(497) 1854 - J Klinefelter - Hardware, Iron, Nails, Glass Saddlery and Carriage Trimmings.-Condition: Good +. Paper has darkened along folds. This was an order for $20.67 for a variety of items including nails and brads. The company was in Springfield, Ohio. An unusual piece from Pre Civil War Era. NOTE: The light colored lines are due to the protective covering. Interesting NOTE: J. Klinefelter was in the service during the Civil war. He wrote a letter on September 27, 1861 to Assistant Adjutant General Mason asking if it was necessary for him to have forms printed for the Quartermaster's Dept. locally and at his expense. Mr. Klinefelter noted that the Quartermaster was to be supplied with such articles, and he was told by General Woods that the forms could not be furnished. Price: $18.00 + Shipping.
