Picture (497) 1854 - J Klinefelter - Hardware, Iron, Nails, Glass Saddlery and Carriage Trimmings.-Condition: Good +. Paper has darkened along folds. This was an order for $20.67 for a variety of items including nails and brads. The company was in Springfield, Ohio. An unusual piece from Pre Civil War Era. NOTE: The light colored lines are due to the protective covering. Interesting NOTE: J. Klinefelter was in the service during the Civil war. He wrote a letter on September 27, 1861 to Assistant Adjutant GenerAL Mason asking if it was necessary for him to have forms printed for the Quartermaster's Dept. locally and at his expense. Mr. Klinefelter noted that the Quartermaster was to be supplied with such articles, and he was told by General Woods that the forms could not be furnished. Price: $18.00 + Shipping.

Picture (1695) January 18, 1926 - Vermont Hardware Co. Inc. - Wholesalers - Burlington, Vermont. Condition: Good Plus Billhead measures 8 1/2" by 5 1/4". Has a colored picture of Whitney Silent Timing Chains in upper left corner. Typed bill was for a saw. It was sent to R. H. Pond in East Berkshire, Vermont. There is a record of an H. A. Pond who is listed as a Grain Dealer and Shipper in East Berkshire, VT, in 1891. Some darkening at bottom and upper corner wrinkled. The Vermont Hardware Co. still exists in Burlington. It purchased the Lumiere Complex in 1914 from John Flynn, and moved its business from Adams Block on Bank Street to the complex in 1915. In 1919, a fire destroyed the interior of the building, and it was rebuilt in 1921. A 1926 (Same year as Billhead), Sanborn Map shows the warehouse in this area as being part of the Vermont Hardware Complex. Price: $5.00 + Shipping.

Picture (1697) July 27, 1933 - Hagar Hardware & Paint Co. - Wholesalers - Burlington, Vermont. Condition: Good Plus Billhead measures 8 1/2" by 8 1/2". Hagar Hardware was founded by Luther M. Hagar, who moved to Burlington, VT. in 1842. He died in 1896, leaving three daughters. The Hagar family owned a home at 174 College Street in Burlington until 1972. The Company was located in the Hagar Hardware Building in 1900 at 164 St. Paul St. in Burlington. This typed bill was for 2 tires and 2 red tubes. The company sells Automotive Equipment, Radio Apparatus, and Mill Supplies. There is a newspaper cartoon attached to the bill that is an add for tires. It was sent to R. H. Pond in East Berkshire, Vermont. There is a record of an H. A. Pond who is listed as a Grain Dealer and Shipper in East Berkshire, VT, in 1891. Price: $6.00 + Shipping.

Picture (1699) March 23, 1917 - Vermont Hardware Co. - Jobbers - Burlington, Vermont. Condition: Very Good Billhead measures 8 1/2" by 5 1/2". Vermont Hardware Co. moved into a complex of buildings in 1914. This complex was built in 1902 for Antoine Lumiere (Inventers of the Motion Picture). This typed bill was for Sugar Thermometers and Syrup Hydrometers. There is handwritten messages on the bottom of the bill. There is an interesting emblem in the upper left. It was sent to R. H. Pond in East Berkshire, Vermont. There is a record of an H. A. Pond who is listed as a Grain Dealer and Shipper in East Berkshire, VT, in 1891. The Vermont Hardware Co. still exists in Burlington. Pond in East Berkshire, Vermont. There is a record of an H. A. Pond who is listed as a Grain Dealer and Shipper in East Berkshire, VT, in 1891. Price: $6.50 + Shipping.

Picture (1747) Letterhead - July 27, 1914 - The Fairbanks Company - New York. Condition: Very Good Letterhead measures 8 1/2" by 11" and has been folded to fit an envelope for mailing. This is a typed letter with a small paper included that describes the "Little Helper" which was a cart for moving heavy items. The enclosed paper gives the dimensions and shows a picture of the cart. The letter gives the wholesale prices. The Fairbanks company was based in Rome, Georgia and had started in the 1830's. In the 1890's a national distribution system was developed. The manufactured industrial products that included casters, wheels, handtrucks, dollies and related products. They are still in operation today in Rome, Georgia. Price: $8.00 + Shipping.

Picture (1887) Billhead - May 5, 1887 - The Underhill, Clinch & Co - New York. Condition: Good Billhead measures 8 1/2" by 4 1/2" and has been folded to fit an envelope for mailing. this is a handwritten bill. The company was an importer of General Hardware. A strange note: Mrs Frederick E Underhill died of Mercury Poisoning in 1915. Frederick was a partner in the company at the time. The headlines indicated she took her own life. Underhill, Clinch & Co. was established in 1856. Price: $7.00 + Shipping.
