(1886) Billhead - May 6, 1887 - Lloyds Plate Glass Insurance Co. - New York. Condition: Good Billhead measures 7" by 8". This handwritten bill was made out to Maultbie Refrigerator Co. The New York Times quoted an article in 1888 stating that Lloyds was the biggest plate glass insurance company in the country. An article in the 1880's quoted the president of the company as saying that in 1884 the company suffered 761 losses out of 6,000 windows insured. Breakage causes included runaway horses, drunken persons, slamming of doors etc. And one of the main causes of losses was vandalism. Price: $6.00 + shipping
