(1723) January 11, 1899 - Sheriff's Sale - New York Supreme Court - Ontario County. Condition: Very Good Document measures 8" by 13" (unfolded). This was was issued by George L. Van Voorhis (Sheriff of Ontario County) as a judgement against Stephen Coursey. The judgement was for $2,426.81. It required the sale of property which is described in detail on the judgement. Paper has been folded with official writing on both sides. Signed by several office holders. Mr. Voorhis was born in 1871, and taught school in the winter and farmed in the summer. He served for four years as Representative of Victor Town and was on the Board of Supervisors. INTERESTING NOTE: An unknown paper had an obituary for Sheriff Voorhis...but stated he was elected as Sheriff in 1906. In 1893, Stephen Coursey who the judgement was against, was listed as being an assessor in the town of Geneva. He was listed as Executor of the Will of John Donnelly in 1885. SOLD !!!
