(1699) March 23, 1917 - Vermont Hardware Co. - Jobbers - Burlington, Vermont. Condition: Very Good Billhead measures 8 1/2" by 5 1/2". Vermont Hardware Co. moved into a complex of buildings in 1914. This complex was built in 1902 for Antoine Lumiere (Inventers of the Motion Picture). This typed bill was for Sugar Thermometers and Syrup Hydrometers. There is handwritten messages on the bottom of the bill. There is an interesting emblem in the upper left. It was sent to R. H. Pond in East Berkshire, Vermont. There is a record of an H. A. Pond who is listed as a Grain Dealer and Shipper in East Berkshire, VT, in 1891. The Vermont Hardware Co. still exists in Burlington. It purchased the Lumiere Complex in 1914 from John Flynn, and moved its business from Adams Block on Bank Street to the complex in 1915. In 1919, a fire destroyed the interior of the building, and it was rebuilt in 1921. A 1926 Sanborn Map shows the warehouse in this area as being part of the Vermont Hardware Complex.
