October 1,1945 - Guam Names Fleet Hospitals Closing. Asks if items are easier to get at home. Misses fresh milk.
July 11, 1945 Chapel is a Quonset Hut. Beach parties with officer as escort (required). Went to party for Capt. Will, General Larsen and Admiral Lockhart. Burying Nurses from the "Comfort". Friend was in operating room when ship was bombed. Stores in Quam are out of bounds for navy nurses.
July 8, 1945 Lizards and Rain.
September 14, 1945 No Internees from Japan. Patients from The Indianapolis put aboard USS Missouri.
December 11, 1945 Place closing. 200 patients will leave on a hospital ship "The Tranquility".
March 26, 1945 - Somewhere in the Pacific Islands Septic Toilets, Rain and good food.
December 27, 1944 - Pearl Harbor Christmas Trees flown in from the states.
March 19, 1945 - Guam Flew from Honolulu to Guam. Getting Casualties from Iwo Jima. Men arriving in bad condition -- very graphic details of injuries. Operations right on the beach. Says Iwo Jima is bloodiest battle yet. Official dating proceedures, including carrying guns because of the Japanese still in the mountains.
February 8, 1944 - Pearl Harbor In "nut" ward. Admitting ward for shell shock. Bars and locks. Description of some patients actions. Met Kay Fancis (actress).
April 26, 1945 Gertrude Lawrence visited. Water buffaloes pulling carts. Strange vegetable. Eat good but Russians eat better.
June 28, 1945 - Pearl Harbor Club built on site of old Japanese place on edge of cliff. Built of bamboo and thatched roof.
June 21, 1945 Patient with gunshot would died after three weeks. He gave her his Purple Heart to send home.
June 18, 1945 - Guam Water Buffalo and Native Villages. Rainy season, Flag treatment, and bugles.
May 25, 1945 Three proposals but not her type. Met Commander of a Submarine who gave her a tour under water. Went through the "Comfort".
September 9, 1944 Just found out was going to Pearl Harbor. Details of route.
May 31, 1945 Dinner on Aircraft Carrier - coffee on flight deck.
September 23, 1945 - Quam Special pass to visit Native Village. Saw Native Church that had been bombed by Americans (Japanese were hiding in the church). Story of Priest's death and secret burial.
